The core is the hydrogen fuel cell

Hydrogen fuel cells will play an important role in the transition to a purely renewable energy supply, both in mobile and stationary power generation

Fuel cells are primarily powered by hydrogen. If green hydrogen is used for this, the economic dependence on fossil fuels is reduced. At the same time, regional energy security can also be improved, as green hydrogen can be produced wherever renewable energy is available. It is expected that the expansion of the
fuel cell market is being massively supported by increasing concern for the environment and the expansion of infrastructure in connection with hydrogen filling stations. The fuel cell industry is currently seeing major leaps in development, which are improving weight, size and manufacturing costs. A new generation of technology will offer significantly greater power density and
stability and thus open up many new fields of application for the fuel cell.

WCP's expertise primarily extends to the production and processing of bipolar plates and their integration into an overall system. The innovative production technology and the optimized material composition enable significant increases in efficiency and thus support the industrial breakthrough of hydrogen fuel cells.

Mass production can significantly reduce the cost of bipolar plates

Our proprietary production technology will open the door for the mass production of bipolar plates as part of fuel cells.

A combination of high-precision 3D screen printing and advanced materials not only guarantees maximum channel precision, but also enables optimized geometries and reduced wall thicknesses. On the material side, a printable composite material is formed from a specially developed mixture of graphite, "carbon black" with an optimized grain size and a heat-resistant polymer, which guarantees a long service life. Based on our sample calculations, we can achieve an annual production of several million parts per machine with our proprietary printing technology.

The main advantages are:
  • Possibility of mass production with the highest quality standards
  • High precision flow fields in free shape and size
  • Optimized material properties (electrical conductivity etc.)
  • Suitable for high and low temperature fuel cells

The electrolyzer is the key component of green hydrogen production

Electrolysers are the building blocks of the future renewable energy industry, converting water into hydrogen using green electricity.

The market for electrolysers went through a phase of stack shortage. Mass production of key components and automated stack assembly will change the game. Efficient use of expensive materials is still crucial to realize the full potential of electrolyzers that enable competitive green energy hydrogen production.

Electrolysers will gain considerable importance due to their high current density, compact system design and fast response to power fluctuations. The ongoing adoption of various policies and standards by developing countries to increase the share of renewables in the overall energy mix will promote product acceptance. Rising demand for electricity and increasing use of green hydrogen production methods will further boost business growth.

WCP's unique manufacturing technologies enable highly efficient mass production of various electrolyzer components without waste. This allows WCP not only to participate in the industry's upswing thanks to a short production start-up time, but also to become a major stack producer that defines industry standards and cost levels.

Methanol - internal combustion engines

Together with partners, the Whitecell Group is developing highly efficient methanol combustion engines that act as range extenders to recharge the vehicle batteries while driving.

Powered by green or bio-methanol, these CO2-neutral drives are extremely clean and considerably cheaper than a fuel cell.

Whitecell Power has the engine expertise in-house with its engineering subsidiary in Clausthal.
